Police back at coronavirus denying, lockdown defying beauty salon

A beauty salon which has previously denied the existence of Covid-19 and breached lockdown rules was visited by police again today.

All non-essential shops and businesses were made to close under new national lockdown restrictions which came in on Thursday (November 5).

But Skin Kerr in Bootle posted a message on its Instagram page earlier this month, saying they would not be complying with the lockdown.

The message read: "We will not be locking down again. We will remain open. We will fight this and any fines in a common law court."

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman confirmed officers attended the Aintree Road salon earlier today, and that enquiries are currently ongoing.

This is the latest in a number of visits from the police in recent months.

Skin Kerr previously gained national attention for refusing to abide by coronavirus regulations and placing posters in their windows that read ‘you can’t catch what doesn’t exist’.

The salon said they banned masks and ‘Covid talk’ and told customers that the pandemic was ‘voodoo virus bulls**t’.

In October, Sefton Council ordered the salon to close and argued that they were putting customers and staff at risk of infection by not following public health guidance. They then later allowed the salon to reopen after a discussion with the owners.

Sefton Council has been approached for further comment.
