Police attacked during raid as bricks thrown and guns found 'inside drug deal car'

Police had bricks hurled at them as they searched a car allegedly used for drug dealing.

The officers were attacked in Ward End, Birmingham, on Saturday afternoon.

A group of men approached as police raided the suspicious vehicle.

Bricks were then thrown and a fire extinguisher was set off in shocking scenes, report Birmingham Live.

Fortunately, no officers were hurt in the attack, the force confirmed.

The offenders, who had launched the attack, fled the scene and no arrests were made.

Police said the car would now be forensically examined.

Video captured the moment a dark BMW 3 series was loaded up onto an incident response unit truck and removed from the scene.

Efforts to track down those involved in the incident are under way.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police as they look to hunt down those who attacked officers.

A statement from West Midlands Police read: "Neighbourhood police officers were attacked as they were searching a vehicle suspected of being involved in drugs dealings in Ingleton Road, Ward End yesterday afternoon (10 Oct).

"They were approached by several men, who threw bricks and set off a fire extinguisher.

"No officers were hurt and the offenders made off before any arrests were made.

"Officers found three firearms, ammunition and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs in the car, which will now be forensically examined.

"Enquiries are on-going to trace all those involved in the incident.
