Police at scene of "serious" crash near Magherafelt

A road in Co Derry has been closed following a "serious road traffic collision".

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash on Quarry Road in the village of Knockloughrim near Magherafelt.

It is understood the collision took place around 5.55pm this evening.

Police have told Belfast Live it involved one vehicle.

A PSNI spokesperson added: "Motorists are advised that the Quarry Road in Knockloughrim is closed following a serious road traffic collision this evening.

"Police are in attendance and diversions are in place, please seek alternative routes for your journey."

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 17:50 on Monday 9 November following reports of a Road traffic Incident involving a van and a male pedestrian on Quarry Road, Knockcloghrim.

"NIAS dispatched one Rapid Response Paramedic and two Emergency crews to the scene. The HEMS team was dispatched to the incident, arriving by road.

"Following assessment at the scene, no patients were taken to hospital."

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said they have not been called to the scene.
