Police were last night searching an area in the heart of Milngavie as part of an 'ongoing enquiry', the force has confirmed.
An eyewitness reported a police presence in the centre of the town yesterday evening amid local claims of a 'stabbing'.
When contacted for comment this morning, Police Scotland advised they were in the area 'in connection with an ongoing police enquiry' and that no arrests have been made at this stage, without divulging any further details. Enquiries remaining ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: “Officers were carrying out a search on the evening of Sunday, 6 June, in the area around Main Street in Milngavie, in connection with an ongoing police enquiry.
"No arrests were made and our enquiries are ongoing.”
