Two people have been charged after police were allegedly assaulted and spat on at Lake Macquarie.
Officers went to a Whitebridge home on Tuesday to speak with 29-year-old Sam Henry Sherwood, who was wanted on outstanding warrants.
They arrested him outside the home and allegedly found a homemade baton hidden in his pants.
A 27-year-old woman then approached police - who told her to move on - but she refused, instead allegedly punching a male senior constable in the face and striking another in the head.
Police allege the woman spat in the face of one of the officers and kicked the other in the legs as she resisted arrest.
Both were charged - the woman was granted bail and will face court on September 25.
Mr Sherwood faced Belmont Local Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive implement in public and not guilty to one count each of resisting an officer in the execution of their duty, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and contravening an AVO.
He made no plea over the three outstanding warrants.
Mr Sherwood did not apply for bail and Magistrate Ron Maiden adjourned the matters to Newcastle Local Court on Friday.
