May 28--Los Angeles police are asking for the public's help in locating the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision in the San Fernando Valley that injured two pedestrians, one critically.
The incident occurred about 9:50 p.m. Friday when the suspect's dark-colored compact vehicle struck the pedestrians as they were crossing Chatsworth Street between Balboa Boulevard and Genesta Avenue in Granada Hills, authorities said.
The unidentified male driver of the vehicle yelled at the victims before fleeing the scene westbound on Chatsworth, police said.
The victims were treated at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and transported to a local hospital. One of the victims, a woman in her 50s, was listed in critical condition. The other, a female teenager, was listed in good condition.
Under a new program created by the Los Angeles City Council last year, a reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to an offender's identification, apprehension and conviction in hit-and-run cases.
