'Much loved' dad killed in West Lothian hit and run named by police

West Lothian Police have named the man killed in a hit on run on Sunday and made a renewed appeal for the driver to come forward.

53-year-old father of two George Robertson from Torphichen died shortly after being struck by the dark vehicle on Sunday night between 10:15pm and 11pm on the B792 road.

The police are urging the driver to do the “right thing” and hand himself into authorities.

Peter Houston from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “I am making an appeal now to the driver involved to please do the right thing and make yourself known to police.

“I would also urge anyone who knows who the driver is, or who has any knowledge at all, to pass the information onto police and help us provide some answers for George’s family.

“The enquiry team are still looking to speak to anyone who was on the B792 between 10:15pm and 11pm on Sunday night.

“You may well have noticed George walking along wearing dark clothing. We would also urge anyone who seen a dark vehicle, which may have fresh collision damage, in the area around the time.

“Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage which can help with the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 4127 of Sunday September 20.”

The police said George, otherwise known to his friends and family as Mojo, was a much loved family man and his family and his friends and work colleagues have been left devastated by this tragic incident.

They denied that the driver might have been unaware that he had struck George.

Houston continued: “I think if the driver hits and adult human being then he would know so I do believe that the driver would be well aware that they had hit something significant on the road.”
