Police arrested millionaire banker in 'Putney Pusher' case after 'speaking to ex partner'

Police investigating London’s infamous “Putney Pusher” case arrested a millionaire banker after speaking to his former partner, it has been reported.

The Metropolitan Police spoke to the man’s ex following a tip-off, according to the Times.

On Monday, a 44-year-old millionaire banker was arrested at his £1.4 million west London home on suspicion of grievous bodily harm relating to the incident more than nine years ago.

The man was later re-arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and Class B drugs and has been bailed until September.

Lawyers say that the “Putney Pusher”, who may turn out to be a different person than the arrested banker, could if caught end up being charged with a different offence than alleged grievous bodily harm once more details emerge of his motives and actions.

The shocking incident on Putney Bridge nine years ago was captured on CCTV.

There are many unanswered questions about the notorious case.

A 33-year-old woman was launched into a busy lane on the bridge at around 7.40am on May 5, 2017, by a man - believed to be a stranger to her - as he ran past.

The woman avoided serious injury thanks to the quick reflexes of the hero bus driver who managed to avoid her.

The latest development in the police investigation into the is in its early stages but it it is understood to be a “significant line of inquiry”.

The incident in 2017 sparked huge interest and became one of Britain's most compelling unsolved cases.
