Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have arrested a 35-year-old woman in connection with the discovery of half a kilogram of semtex explosive in Belfast this month.

The woman was detained on Sunday as part of an ongoing security operation linked to the discovery. She is being questioned by PSNI officers at a serious crime suite in Antrim.

Last week, a 45-year-old man was remanded in custody in the city on firearms and explosives charges related to the discovery of the major weapons haul.
Kevin Nolan, who was arrested in Sunderland at the weekend, is accused of possessing half a kilogram of the explosive, two handguns and 200 rounds of ammunition.

The cache was found during a search at a house in Ballymurphy Road, west Belfast, last week.

Nolan was detained in a follow-up security operation in north-east England, involving officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland and anti-terrorist officers in Northumbria.
