Police arrest three men after suspected cocaine valued at £38,000 seized in East Belfast

Three men arrested following the seizure of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of £38,000 in East Belfast were released on bail on Saturday pending further enquiries.

The trio, aged 35, 37 and 60, are being questioned on suspicion of various drug related offences.

Money and other items were removed from residential premises for further examination.

Inspector Murphy said: "Shortly after 3:10pm, it was reported that officers carried out a search at residential premises in the area. A quantity of suspected cocaine was seized, alongside a sum of money and other items were taken away for further forensic examination.

"The men were arrested on suspicion of various drugs related offences and are currently in police custody.

"This was a joint endeavour between Belfast District Support Team officers and local Neighbourhood police, which has resulted in this seizure and arrests."

Police have appealed for anyone with information on suspected drug dealing in their area to get in touch.

"We are all too familiar with the devastation drugs misuse can cause in communities and we are focusing our efforts on removing illegal and dangerous drugs and targeting those involved in the sale and supply," they added.

"We would appeal to anyone who can help us identify suspects or provide any information about suspected drug dealing in their area to call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can also be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
