Police arrest 'reckless' man riding e-scooter while in posession of an imitation firearm

A 22-year-old man has been arrested after police found him in possession of an imitation firearm. The man was riding through Victoria Station when he was stopped by police.

Shortly before 2am this morning (Tuesday, April 4) Manchester City Centre Police tweeted about the incident.

Their tweet read: "#GMPTransportUnit officers have arrested a reckless 22yr old male tonight after he was riding an electric scooter through Victoria Station and on being stopped was found in possession of an imitation firearm! He's fortunate the outcome was not a lot worse for him."

Section 16A of the 1968 Act makes it an offence to possess any firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause, or to enable another person to cause, someone else to fear that unlawful violence will be used against them or another person. It provides for a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment or a fine, or both.
