Police arrest motorist for drugs offences after he failed to stop

Police Scotland officers arrested a male this morning for a string of offences including failing to stop his car when instructed to do so and being found in possession of drugs with intent to supply.

The Lanarkshire Road Police patrol flagged down the car in Cleland but the driver sped off. Police quickly caught up with him and he attempted to flee on foot.

Police dogs were deployed and sniffed out Class A drugs and a quantity of cash on the suspect. The male also failed a drug wipe test for cocaine and cannabis

The suspect has been remanded in custody pending further enquiries.

Police Scotland tweeted at 3.07am: "At Less than an hour on the road and the driver of this vehicle failed to stop for #LanarkshireRP in Cleland.

"Tried his luck on foot to no avail. Fantastic search by @polscotdogs ensured no items were missed.

"Arrested/reported for numerous offences."
