Police arrest man who taunted them on social media to 'do your job'

A MAN who taunted police on a social media post calling for information on his whereabouts, has been arrested and charged.

On August 18 both Newcastle City and Lake Macquarie Police Districts shared the image of a 22-year-old wanted man on social media.

He was wanted in relation to an outstanding drug court warrant, and the posts were widely shared by the Newcastle community.

The man commented on one of the public posts, taunting police and putting out a challenge for police to 'do their job'.

"We guess he didn't count on the 16,788 strong NSW Police Force catching up with him so soon," a Newcastle City Police District statement said.

At 1.40am on Wednesday the man was located by police in Tenambit after being stopped in a car and providing false details.

He was arrested and taken to Maitland police station where he was charged with the outstanding warrant, driving whilst disqualified, carrying a knife in a public place and two unrelated shoplifting offences. He was bail refused to appear at Toronto Local Court on September 2.
