Police arrest man walking around Porthcawl with metal bar looking to cause harm

South Wales Police apprehended a man walking around the streets of Porthcawl with a metal bar intending to cause harm.

Officers from Bridgend and Porthcawl arrested the male on Sunday night as he was armed with a dangerous weapon with, they said, a clear intention to hurt someone.

The male is now in police custody and the weapon has been seized.

South Wales Police tweeted at 12.30am: "Following community intelligence, Bridgend & Porthcawl arrested a male walking through the streets of Porthcawl this evening for possession of a metal bar that he intended to cause harm with.

"One less violent person on the street this bank holiday weekend."
