Police arrest man on suspicion of false imprisonment and firearms offences after report of missing woman in Wigan

A man is being questioned by police after a woman went missing in Wigan.

At 1.50pm yesterday afternoon (December 19) police received a report that a woman in her 30s had gone missing in the Platt Bridge area.

Officers said they later received information that the missing woman "may have been involved in a domestic incident, potentially involving a firearm", in Victoria Avenue, Springfield.

Specialist response officers visited a house on the street and arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of false imprisonment and firearms offences.

The man remains in custody for questioning this morning (December 20) and an investigation is ongoing.

The victim is also being supported by officers.
