Police arrest man on suspicion of drug driving after chasing van from Manchester to Bolton

A man has been arrested after cops followed a van from Manchester to Bolton.

Traffic officers for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) first spotted the white Mercedes in Manchester, where police said it "tried to evade officers".

Police said officers then got behind the van on A666 St Peters Way and followed it into Bolton.

Using tactical pursuit and containment (TPAC) tactics, police eventually stopped the van in the Halliwell area.

On the GMP Traffic Twitter page, at 6.25am today, a spokesman confirmed that the driver of the van failed a drug test and was in breach of a non-molestation order.

A spokesman tweeted: "After it tried to evade officers in Manchester, XT18 got behind this Mercedes Van on A666 St Peter's Way.

"It was followed into Bolton and TPAC in Halliwell.

"Driver failed a drug test and was also in breach of non molestation order. He was arrested and currently in custody."
