Police arrest man in Holywood in joint National Crime Agency Operation Venetic

A man, aged 50, has been arrested in Holywood as part of a police and National Crime Agency investigation into organised crime.

Police searched two properties as part of Operation Venetic.

Over £6,000 and over €5,500 were seized as well as a motorised scooter, mobile phones, a laptop, documentation and a small quantity of Class B drugs.

The man, who remains in custody at Musgrave Police Station, was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences.

They include being concerned in the supply of, conspiracy to import a Class A drug, conspiracy to possess and being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug.

He is also suspected of conspiracy to transfer criminal property, entering into an arrangement in respect of criminal property and conspiracy to handle stolen property.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Criminal Investigations Branch today arrested a 50-year-old man in the Holywood area as part of the National Crime Agency-led operation, Operation Venetic.

"Police also searched two properties and seized over £6,000 and over €5,500, as well as a motorised scooter, mobile phones, a laptop, documentation and a small quantity of Class B drugs."
