Police arrest man in Clifton after spate of vehicle break-ins

A man has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into parked cars in Clifton.

He was detained earlier this morning (January 13) by police officers in plain clothes in the Worcester Terrace area.

They tried to speak to the man after noticing he was acting suspiciously but he then attempted to run away.

The man - in his 20s - was detained shortly afterwards and he remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of theft.

Various items, including a satellite navigation system, gloves, headphones, sunglasses and a sports bag were seized, together with a multi tool.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has appealed for victims of recent vehicle thefts to get in touch.

A police spokesperson said: "We’re keen to hear from anyone whose car has been broken into and items taken.

"Please contact us on 101, reference 5220009041."
