Police arrest man carrying machete on Barry Island

South Wales Police have arrested a man seen carrying a machete and for drugs-related offences following a tactical stop and search on Barry island.

Officers from Vale of Glamorgan acted on information about the suspect and seized a machete. He was also found to be in possession of drugs.

The suspect has been remanded in custody on Saturday morning (January 8) pending further police enquiries.

South Wales Police tweeted at 2.36am: "#ARREST| Barry Response T3 have conducted an intelligence led stop search.

"One male arrested and a large machete seized. Male also arrested for drug offences."
