Police arrest driver who allegedly tested positive for cocaine

Greater Manchester Traffic Police have sent a stark warning to drug drivers in the region after arresting an alleged drug driver last night.

Officers have been patrolling the streets looking out for drink and drug drivers after another clampdown this week.

GMP explained that the man stopped behind the wheel on Hollinwood Avenue, Manchester was allegedly 'a designated driver for his mate' and has since been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of Class A and Class B drugs.

Police tweeted: "Driver of a blue Renault Kangoo was stopped by #XT18 on Hollinwood Avenue Manchester.

"He was the designated driver for his mate.. Unfortunately he failed a drug test + cannabis and cocaine #Arrested #fatal4 his mate is now walking home!"

GMP have urged people to report drivers who take drugs by contacting 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
