Police arrest after officer spot car with 'tyres to rival F1 car'

Road police in Derbyshire have arrested a driver after a stop check found the vehicle to have tyres "to rival an F1 car." Police in South Normanton became suspicious when their automatic plate recognition (ANPR) was triggered.

After the car pulled over officers found that the driver was a non-licence holder who was wanted for seven offences. Police then arrested that driver and seized the car.

Non-licenced drivers can face serious punishments such as fines, penalty points and a driving ban according to the DVLA.

A tweet from Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit read: "South Normanton Driver of this Mercedes triggers our ANPR whilst cruising through the county. A stop check reveals him to be a non-licence holder who was wanted for seven offences and had tyres to rival an F1 car.

"Seized Arrested Prohibited Gp2."
