Police arrest 15-year-old with baseball bat at Bolton Bus Interchange

Greater Manchester Police Transport Unit this evening (December 7) arrested a 15-year-old at Bolton Bus Interchange who was in possession of a baseball bat.

Officers were on plain clothes patrol in Bolton when they noticed a youth previously involved in another incident.

He was spoken to and then arrested.

On twitter, police said: "GMPTransport Unit were on plain clothes patrol at Bolton Interchange this evening.

"Officers came across a youth involved in a previous incident and was found to be in possession of a baseball bat.

"A 15 year old juvenile has been arrested."

There is no law prohibiting the ownership of a baseball bat in the UK but if they are brandished in a public place they are categorised as an offensive weapon.

Brandishment is defined as waving something aggressively, so merely carrying a baseball bat in a public park, for example, would not constitute an offence.
