Police are hunting this man after two people mown down outside nightclub on Christmas Eve

A manhunt is underway after two people were mown down outside a nightclub on Christmas Eve.

Lee Clarke is wanted by police in connection with the incident in Rawtenstall, Lancashire, last week.

A man and a woman had been walking along Bacup Road near to Revival nightclub at around 11.30pm when a blue Volkswagen Golf mounted the pavement and ploughed into them.

The car then left the scene.

Police say earlier in the evening the victims - who were left with minor injuries following the crash - had been verbally abused in a nearby pub in a suspected racially-motivated attack.

Both incidents are being treated as linked.

Today, Lancashire Police have released an image of Clarke, who they say 'knows' they want to speak to him.

The 22-year-old, of Hamer Avenue, in Rossendale, is described as white, 6ft tall, of medium build with short, light-brown hair.

A woman, aged 23, who was also wanted by police in connection with the incidents, was arrested on December 31 on suspicion of assault and is in custody.

Det Insp Tom Edmondson, of Burnley CID, said: "Clarke is wanted in connection with a serious offence and we would encourage anyone who knows where he is to come forward.

"Clarke knows we want to speak to him and I would urge he contacts police immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 1500 of December 24. In an emergency call 999.
