A local police force is advertising for a cannabis farm cleaner.
Somerset and Avon Police posted an advertisement on 8 September for a “Viscount Site Clearance” worker.
Operation Viscount is the constabulary’s effort to tackle weed farms in the county.
The advert states the force wants someone “who could be requested to work at any time day or night, 365 days per year, to assist in locating and clearing cannabis growing sites.”

For the position applicants must “demonstrate high levels or integrity and honesty” as well as a tolerance for high temperatures. They should also have a “good level of personal fitness” as the role may including “bending, lifting and stretching” in confined spaces.
Successful applicants will be required to not only clear farms of the narcotic plant, but also any “growing equipment” found on the sites.
The post will pay between £17,763 to £18,933 annually. Interviews are scheduled for October.
It follows news that more than 200,000 people signed a Parliamentary petition to legalise the sale and use of cannabis in the UK. The issue is due to be debated in the House of Commons on 12 October.
