Police appealing for a cyclist who was hit by a car to come forward

Northumbria Police is appealing for a cyclist who was knocked from his bike after a collision in Jarrow to come forward.

On Saturday evening, officers were called to York Avenue shortly after a car had been in collision with a male cyclist.

The cyclist is believed to have hit his head off the windscreen during the collision.

The driver stopped at the scene and tried to assist the cyclist and contacted the emergency services.

However, before the cyclist was properly checked over, the rider had jumped back on his bike and left the scene.

Due to the force of the collision, the rider could easily have suffered a serious injury.

Officers are now appealing for the individual in question to come forward and let them know he is safe and well.

The cyclist is not in any trouble but officers just want to make sure he has suffered no serious injuries.

Were you the cyclist? If so, the police have asked if you could contact them via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page on the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 quoting log 794 121220.
