Police appeal to trace schoolboy who was knocked over by a van in Shotton Colliery

Police are appealing for help in trying to trace a schoolboy hit by a van.

Peterlee Police issued are trying to track down the teen, who they believe is 16, after he was was hit when he ran out in front of a van in Marcia Avenue, Shotton Colliery, at around 2.55pm today.

The boy got up and ran away - but officers fear he may be injured and are asking for help to trace him.

An appeal of Durham Constabulary's Facebook page said: “The boy, who is believed to be around 16-years-old, ran out in front of the van in Marcia Avenue, Shotton Colliery, at around 2.55pm today [Sunday, July 12].

“He ran away from the scene following the collision. Officers are concerned for the boy’s welfare and are appealing for help in tracing him.

"He is described as having black hair, and was wearing a black top, grey bottoms and Nike trainers.

"The male was last seen running into Waskerley Drive."

Anyone who has any information on the boy’s whereabouts should call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 283 of July 12."
