Police appeal to find family of man who died on Tube tracks at St John's Wood

Police have launched an appeal to find the family of a man who died on Underground tracks at a north London station.

Berhane Teka, 35, originally from Eritrea but living in Tottenham, was found fatally injured at St John’s Wood station on June 20.

British Transport Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene at around 7.40pm.

He died from multiple injuries but the case is not being treated as suspicious.

However, police have been unable to trace Mr Teka’s next of kin.

A BTP statement said: “On 20 June 2024, at 7.40pm, officers were called to St John’s Wood underground station to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

“The man was identified as 35-year-old Berhane Teka.

“Mr Teka was born in Eritrea, but at the time of his passing was believed to live in the Tottenham area of London.

“Despite extensive enquiries, officers have been unable to trace Mr Teka’s next of kin or any other family members to inform them of this sad news.

“They are appealing for any relatives or anyone who may have information about Mr Teka’s family to come forward and assist their investigation.”

Police have been searching for Mr Teka’s next of kin through public records and social media but have drawn a blank.
