Police appeal over car and van being driven 'suspiciously' near girl in Notts

Officers have released information about a car and a van reported to have been 'acting suspiciously' near a 14-year-old girl.

The vehicles were seen in Hawksworth Road in Syerston, on the outskirts of Newark.

A white BMW car allegedly stopped in the road in front of a girl aged 14, before driving off - although no contact with her was made and she returned home safely.

Nottinghamshire Police received the report on Friday afternoon (June 27) around 3.15pm.

The force has asked anyone with information relating to the incident to come forward.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Heather Sutton said: “Nottinghamshire Police received a report of a car and van acting suspiciously in Hawksworth Road in Syerston at around 3.15pm on Friday 27 June.

“It was reported that a white BMW stopped in the road in front of a 14-year-old girl before driving off.

"There was no abduction and no one was reported to have made contact with the girl before she made her way home safely.

“If you have any information or witnessed something suspicious, please contact 101 quoting incident 555 of 27 June 2020.”
