Police appeal: Man dies following M8 road crash after being struck by several cars

A man has died after being struck by several cars on the M8 last night.

Police are this morning appealing for witnesses to the fatal road crash.

At around 8.45pm on Thursday, November 19, an as-yet-unidentified man was struck by several cars whilst walking on the live lane of the M8 westbound between J7A and J8, Baillieston.  He died at the scene.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland, Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said: “We have yet to find out who the man is and also why he was walking on the carriageway.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw the incident happen, or to those who may have dash-cam footage and who have not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“The man is described as white, between 20 to 40 years of age, wearing a black Karrimor jacket, black jogging bottoms and black and grey Nike trainers.

“If you have any information about the crash or can assist with identifying the man, then please contact officers at Motherwell Road Policing Unit via 101.  Please quote reference number 3302 of 19 November, 2020, when calling.”
