Police appeal is launched after man out walking is ambushed by armed teen thugs who appeared from woodland

Cops are hunting a gang of armed youths who attacked a man near woods in Renfrewshire.

The 25-year-old victim was walking on High Barholm in Kilbarchan when he was ambushed by a group who emerged from a nearby wooded area.

One of the yobs was armed with a weapon during the incident, which happened at around 9.50pm on Friday.

The victim was punched in the body as he tried to flee the teen thugs.

He did not sustain any serious injuries but was left badly shaken by the ordeal.

One suspect is described as being a white male, aged between 18 and 20, around 6ft tall and was wearing a blue tracksuit.

An investigation is now underway to identify the suspects and the officer leading the probe have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Inspector Damian Kane, from Renfrewshire's community policing team, said: "We are investigating after a 25-year-old man was assaulted by a group of youths in High Barholm, Kilbarchan at around 9.50pm on Friday.

"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch with officers.

"If you saw a group of people in or around the wooded area at High Barholm around the time of the incident then we would like to hear from you."
