Police appeal for witnesses following hit-and-run in Stalybridge

Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit-and-run in Stalybridge.

A man was taken to hospital following the smash, involving a black VW Polo and a white Vauxhall Vivario van, on the junction of Clarence Street and Tame Street.

The driver of the VW Polo, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital.

He has since been released and is recovering at home.

The Vauxhall Vivario did not remain at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police have just issued details of the incident which happened at 11am on Thursday October 10 and are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable Stacey Holmes, of Tameside Division, said: “This was a nasty collision that saw a man having to be taken to hospital due to his injuries. We are appealing for any witnesses or dash cam footage that may have been taken of the incident."

Anyone with any information about the incident should contact police on 0161 856 9353 quoting incident number 1077 of 10/10/19. Information can also be passed anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
