Police appeal for witnesses following assault in West Lothian

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in West Lothian last Friday (April 19).

The incident happened in Whitburn, at around 9.40pm in the George V Park on Baillie Street.

A 20-year-old man was walking in the area when he was attacked by three men, suffering a number of cuts to his face and head.

He attended St John’s Hospital for treatment.

Inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Lyndsey Beck, from Livingston CID, said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances of this attack, which has resulted in the victim sustaining a number of facial injuries that are likely to leave permanent scarring.

“At this time we only have limited information about the suspects and so we’d ask that members of the public who witnessed what happened and can help us identify those responsible contact police immediately.

“A number of females came to the aid of the victim immediately after the assault, and I would appeal for them to get in touch.”
