Police appeal for witnesses after woman's death in city centre near Marriott Hotel

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman died in Bristol city centre.

Officers were called to a concern for welfare on Lower Castle Street, outside the Marriott Hotel, at around 6pm on Sunday evening (October 27).

A woman was given treatment at the scene. However, she died shortly afterwards and enquiries into what happened remain ongoing.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has said it wants to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.

A police spokesman said: "We’re appealing for your help following an incident in Bristol tonight in which a woman has sadly died.

"We were called at about 6.15pm to reports of a concern for welfare in Lower Castle Street in Bristol.

"She was given treatment at the scene but sadly died shortly afterwards.

"The area remains cordoned off while we carry out enquiries into what has happened.

"We’re keen to hear from anyone who lives or was in the area at the time of the incident, who may have information to help us piece together what happened.

Most people who are thinking of taking their own life have shown warning signs beforehand. These can include becoming depressed, showing sudden changes in behaviour, talking about wanting to die and feelings of hopelessness.
