Police appeal for witnesses after weekend assaults

Paisley CID are appealing for witnesses after two men were seriously assaulted in separate incidents at the weekend.

In the first incident on Friday night, a 37-year-old was attacked by a group of three men in George Place in Paisley town centre at 11.40pm.

He received facial injuries as well as injuries to his head and was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

Police are treating the attack as a serious assault and believe it was random as the victim and suspects don’t appear to know each other.

One of the suspects is described as wearing a white t-shirt with Y3 on it, Adidas jogging trousers and white trainers. The other two were both wearing dark clothing.

Police believe, following the attack the three went into the Pre pub on Shuttle Street. Officers attended the incident and are reviewing CCTV in a bid to track down the three suspects.

In the second incident at 11pm on Saturday night, a 30-year-old make was chased into the Kashmir takeaway on William Street, Johnstone, by a group of males and attacked with weapons.

He received a puncture wound to the back of his head and a cut above his left eye which required stitches.

Police are reviewing CCTV and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened. They are particularly keen to speak to a delivery driver who they believe was in the area at the time and may have seen the attack.

Anyone with information on either incident can contact Paisley CID on the non-emergency 101 number.
