An investigation is now ongoing into the incident, including CCTV enquiries, and officers are also appealing for any witness or anyone with information to come forward. It is believed those involved were wearing dark clothing and masks over their faces.

Anyone who can assist police is asked to contact detectives via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of Northumbria Police's official website or by calling 101 quoting crime number NP-20221014-1244.

Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
