Police appeal for witnesses after cyclist, 84, killed in crash with car

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist died following a crash with a car in Cheshire.

The collision took place on New Road, near the junction of Wharf Lane, in Moreton, near Congleton.

A dark grey Audi and pedal bike were involved in the crash.

The cyclist, an 84-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The occupants of the Audi did not suffer any injuries.

No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward following the incident which took place on Wednesday, June 24, at around 12.40pm.

A statement from Cheshire Police said: "Officers are appealing for information from the public after a cyclist died following a collision in Moreton, near Congleton.

"At around 12.40pm on Wednesday, June 24, police were called to reports of a collision New Road, near to the junction of Wharf Lane.

"On arrival it was found that there had been a collision between a pedal cyclist and a dark grey Audi.



"Sadly, the cyclist, an 84-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

"The occupants of the Audi were uninjured.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries into the collision are ongoing. As part of their investigation officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid their investigation."
