A bicycle-riding thief stole a pensioner's car from outside a Wilmslow department store.

Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following the theft outside Hoopers on Aldeley Road.

The thief is thought to have ridden to the scene on a red bike before stealing a white Ford Ka sometime between 6.10pm and 6.40pm on Monday, August 9.

The bicycle was later found dumped at the scene.

The car was then seen being driven off towards Manchester Road.

Pc Mark Stringer said: "Alderley Road is a busy road and I believe that there may have been a number of people in the area at the time of the incident who may hold vital information.

"As part our ongoing enquiries I’m keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the theft or noticed anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who was driving through the area at the time and may have unwittingly recorded any dashcam footage which may aid our investigation."

Anyone with any information, no matter how small, is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tua, quoting IML 1057654.
