Police appeal for wanted South Shields man in connection with burglary

Northumbria Police have appealed to the public to help track down a wanted man from South Shields

Mark Smith, 45, is wanted by officers in connection with a burglary in the town on November 25.

Police have searched a number of addresses across South Tyneside in a bid to locate Smith, who is avoiding officers despite knowing that he is wanted.

On Saturday morning, officers appealed to members of the public who have seen him to come forward with information.

Police said they would like to remind members of the public that it is a criminal offence to harbour someone who is evading arrest and do not want anybody to get into trouble on his account.

Police have also said that the best outcome would be for Smith to hand himself into a police station.

Anyone with information about Smith’s whereabouts is asked to call 101 quoting reference 0113885.

Alternatively, you can pass on information to independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
