Police appeal for two witnesses who spoke to missing Wallsend man in Tynemouth to come forward

Officers looking for a missing North Tyneside man are appealing for two key individuals to come forward to assist the ongoing search.

Lee Hawley, 42, of Wallsend was reported as missing on Saturday after his family had not heard from him for a number of days.

He was last seen at a friend’s home in Westerhope on Monday and enquiries have since confirmed he was at Tynemouth Priory at 7.30am on Tuesday.

While at the Priory, officers believe Lee spoke to a man and a woman about a YouTube channel that he runs.

The man was wearing a dark jacket and the woman had blonde hair and was wearing a white hoodie.

Searches are ongoing to find Lee and make sure he is safe and well. Police are now asking the man and woman who spoke to him to come forward and make themselves known to police.

PC Hannah Lewis, of Northumbria Police, said: “We know Lee was at Tynemouth Priory at 7.30am on Tuesday morning in a vehicle. He stopped and spoke to a man and a woman through his car window.

“We are trying to identify the man and woman who spoke to him. They are not in any trouble, but could have key information that could assist in our search for Lee.

“If you believe it was you, please get in touch – and we also want to hear from anybody else who believes they have spoken to Lee or know where he may be.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of Northumbria Police's website or by calling 101 quoting log NP-20211211-0513.
