Police appeal for information on attempted robbery at shop in Livingston

Police are appealing for information on two men who attempted to rob a shop in Livingston yesterday.

The incident occurred yesterday morning (Thursday, November 28) around 10.15am at the Eliburn Mini-Market, Jackson Place, Eliburn, Livingston.

A man armed with a knife, threatened staff at the shop but no money was handed over and the suspect ran off, along with another man who was waiting outside the shop.

One suspect was described as white, mid 30s, skinny build, five feet 10 inches, gaunt sunken eyes, scarf over face covering up to the top of his nose, blue Puffa jacket with hood over his head and dark trousers and the other was white, five feet seven inches, with dark brown hair, blue cotton tracksuit, blue trainers and was carrying a red rucksack.

Detective Sergeant John Bowerbank, Livingston CID, said: “Thankfully none of the staff were injured, however, this was a frightening experience for them.

“Officers have been in the area since the incident and we had a dog unit also search the area but the two men got away.

“So far our CCTV check shows at least one of the men hanging about the shop prior to the incident.

“It is a busy place and happened in broad daylight, so if were there, recognise the descriptions, or have any information that will help us identify and catch these two, then please call Livingston CID via 101 quoting reference number 0957 of November 28 2019. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
