Police appeal for information following suspicious death of Lanarkshire man

Police are appealing for information following the "suspiscious" death of a man on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3.30pm on March 31, officers were called to a report of a disturbance in Camelon Crescent, Blantyre.

Emergency services attended and the body of a 33-year-old man was found within a flat.

A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the full circumstances of the death, however, officers are treating it as suspicious.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and officers have been carrying out door-to-door and are gathering relevant CCTV for review.

Detective Inspector Frank Travers from the Major Investigations Team said: “This will be a shock to the community and I would like to reassure them that we are doing all we can to find out exactly what has happened.

"I am appealing to members of the public for assistance, if you were in Camelon Crescent or in the surrounding areas yesterday afternoon, you may have seen something which could assist our investigation.

"In particular, if you have a dash cam, please check the footage. It’s possible you captured images which could help us, small, minor details can be vital in inquiries such as this so please do pass the information on.”

Police presence in nearby Bruce Terrace, Blantyre, on Wednesday evening is being linked to the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2154 of March 31, 2021. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
