Police appeal for information after three people 'seriously injured' on A890

POLICE are appealing for information after a crash on the A890 between Achnasheen and Achtertyre left a man with life-threatening injuries and two more people in serious condition.

The incident, which involved a blue Volkswagen Tiguan and a black Range Rover, took place around 3.45pm on Sunday.

The 33-year-old driver of the Range Rover was airlifted to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the 78-year-old male driver of the Tiguan was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in "serious but stable" condition.

The 73-year-old female passenger in the Tiguan was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

No one else was seriously injured in the crash. The A890 was closed at the site of the collision, and reopened around midnight.

Sergeant Doug Scott said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened, and we are asking anyone who can assist to get in touch.

“If you were in the area at the time and can help or have dash-cam footage that has captured useful information then please make contact with officers.”

Anyone who can assist I asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2181 of Sunday, August 25.
