Police appeal for info teenage boy struck by brick during altercation in Wishaw

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was attacked with a brick on Good Friday.

The incident happened at around 4.30pm on Friday, on land near to Carbarns Farm in East Road, Wishaw.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We believe there were between 60 and 70 youths there at that time.

“There was some kind of altercation with bricks being thrown and one boy has been struck on the head.”

The boy was taken to University Hospital Wishaw where he was treated for his injuries.

It is likely the wound sustained by the teen will lead to permanent scarring.

Officers are also investigating an attack in Muirhouse Avenue, Motherwell, over the weekend in which a 46-year-old man was stabbed.

Other serious assaults took place in Motherwell and New Stevenston.

Officers working in Motherwell, Wishaw and Bellshill dealt with over 530 incidents over the Easter weekend - the highest since Police Scotland came into existence.

If you have any information in connection with the incidents contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
