Police appeal for info after serious assault and fire in Wishaw street

Police in Lanarkshire are appealing for information following a serious assault and wilful fireraising in Wishaw.

The incident occurred around 9.25pm on Thursday, March 4, at a property on Ettrick Street when two men entered the property and seriously assaulted a 34-year-old man before setting fire to a vehicle outside of the property.

The victim was taken to Wishaw General Hospital with serious injuries and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Detective Constable David Duers, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim who sustained serious injuries as a result.

“The suspects arrived and left the scene in a dark coloured vehicle, believed to be a Volvo. I would encourage anyone who saw the vehicle before or after the incident to get in touch with police.

“Anyone with information which could assist our investigation is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 3192 of 4 March.”
