Police are calling for help from the community in their search for Gav - a missing horse believed to have been stolen from a Lower Hunter property earlier this month.
The NSW Police Rural Crime Team has this week taken to social media to spread the word about the beloved horse, which vanished from Sawyers Gully - near Maitland - on August 4.
Investigators believe a thief or thieves stole Gav from his paddock in the early hours of the morning, after they cut the fence at the property.
Gav is a gelding and is described as thoroughbred chestnut with a white marking on his face.
He was last seen wearing a blue Caribu rain sheet with a purple fly veil.
Gav is branded with the letters "CP" above "P" on his left side and the numerals "3" over "0" on his right side.
Anyone with information about Gav's disappearance can contact Rural Crime Team investigators at Muswellbrook Police Station on 6542 6999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Tips can be passed on anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
