Police appeal following serious assault

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Rutherglen.

On Friday we reported that an attack too place around 4pm on Thursday, near to the underpass on Burnhill Street at its junction with Mill Street.

The 49-year-old victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say enquiries are ongoing and officers are particularly keen to identify a man described as being aged between 18 to 30 and wearing a blue tracksuit in connection with the incident.

He was last seen running from the area in the direction of the underpass to Chapel Street.

Detective Constable Ashley Hind of CID at Cambuslang police station said: "Our enquiries are ongoing and we would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.

"We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV from the area.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 2274 of 13 May, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
