Police appeal following incidents at Wishaw primary school

Police are appealing for information following two incidents at a Wishaw primary school.

A number of windows were smashed at St Ignatius Primary School in Loch Park on Monday, February 1, while the following night four youths forced a fire door open and caused damage while inside.

Sgt James Mutter, from Wishaw Police, said: “The school has been used over the past few weeks and the janitor contacted the police following the second incident.

“We are asking if any member of the public who may have seen or heard something to come forward and let us know.”

A spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: “These acts of mindless vandalism are completely unacceptable and the costs to repair the damage will need to be met from our already stretched budget, we strongly appeal for anyone with information to contact the police.”

Anyone with information regarding these incidents are asked to contact police on 101.

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Calls are free and anonymity will be maintained.
