Emergency services raced to Ard Road on Monday night following reports from members of the public that the site was on fire.

Firefighters from Scottish Fire and Rescue attended around 11pm to extinguish the blaze.

No one was injured, however, police say that considerable damage was caused to the extension.

An appeal has now been launched to urge members of the public who may have CCTV footage or dash cam footage from Monday night to get in touch with officers.

Detective Constable Gordon Hunt said: “Fortunately no one was injured but this kind of wilful fire-raising will not be tolerated.

“I am asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to get in touch. If you were driving and have dash-cam that could assist with our enquiries then I would also urge you to contact us.”

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to get in touch via 101, quoting incident number 3842 of Monday, 28 March, 2022, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
