Police appeal following crash inside Irvine cemetery involving off road motorbike and cyclist

Police are appealing for information after a crash involving an off road motorbike and a cyclist at around 8pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 20) on a footpath in Irvine's Knadgerhill Cemetery.

The cyclist, a 12-year-old boy, was taken to Crosshouse Hospital by ambulance. The rider of the motorbike made off and officers are appealing for witnesses as enquiries continue into the incident.

Road Policing Sergeant Gordon Stewart said: “I’m appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to get in touch.

"Were you out walking or driving near the cemetery around 8pm yesterday and saw an off road motorbike? Perhaps you have dash cam or private CCTV of the area that’s captured something of significance. If you do, then I would urge you to come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference 3970 of 20 June, 2023.
