Officers are urgently appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed at Hamilton Central railway station on Saturday night.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 9.30pm on Saturday, March 13, where the victim and his partner got off a train at the same time as three men and a woman.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “A short time later an altercation took place between the victim and the group on the station’s platform during which the victim was stabbed.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital by paramedics for treatment where he remains.

Train services were cancelled at the station’s platform two as police investigated the incident.
A tweet from Scotrail read: “Police have carried out their investigations on platform one, services can now call at Hamilton Central on platform one only.
“Unfortunately they’re still carrying out investigations on platform two and this will have to remain closed for passenger use at this time.”
Commuters were urged to use Hamilton West Station.
